During this community focus group meeting, administrators brought us up to speed on the XQ Super School award – the $10 million award that Vista High School recently won to help build upon the successes of the VHS Personal Learning Academy, and provide critical support as we re-define public high school in the United States. it was It was a lot of information to pack into an hour, but it was intended to build a foundation of understanding for our community as we work together to reimagine school for our young people.

The focus of the 2nd half of this meeting was on the idea of creating innovative learning environments. As we continue our transition to changing the way we do school, the design and functionality of our classrooms will play a big part. To this end, a few VHS teachers presented the work they’ve done to move toward a more innovative approach to the classroom experience. The hope is that these presentations helped all of us see just how powerful even small changes to the physical learning space can be.
